Ravelry not only lets you catalogue your patterns, but it also helps you to buy patterns directly from designers. If you go to the main Patterns page, using the green Patterns tab at the top of most Ravelry pages, you’ll see a number of helpful ways to sift through the millions of patterns listed on Ravelry. One of the first ways that people use Ravelry is to track their projects.

If you’ve got a tub of single skeins waiting for that perfect one-skein pattern, you could tag each of these yarns ‘single skein’. When the perfect pattern appears, search by this tag to find exactly which yarn to use. Another tag option could be ‘gifts’, for yarns you plan to gift with.

The content on the site is completely user-driven, resulting in a vibrant community. Members share projects, ideas, and even their yarn collection. On each yarn page, you can get information about a yarn as well as
browse and search pages of projects that people have made with that yarn.
